Debbi's note:  Why does one person succeed with their home based business opportunity, while another fails?  I've long been an advocate on working on your mind as much as working on your skill level.  This article is one of the best I've read and should be required reading for all home business owners.

We hear alot about mindset in this business. And there's no doubt about it: you can cross every 't' and dot every 'i' -- but if you don't have the right mindset, it seems that success is still elusive.

And the reason is simple: you can never earn more money than your mindset will allow. In other words, the only limits you have are the ones you put on yourself.

Or, to put it another way: if you've got a $40,000 mindset and you're in a million-dollar opportunity.....

....you'll take that million dollar opportunity and go make $40,000 with it. It's inevitable. And God Himself cannot give you something that you will not accept.

One of the things we've been doing lately in our business is meeting with some other partners on Monday nights for a "Black Belt Marketing Call". It's a place where the top earners get together to talk about business and to share the different aspects of the success mindset and how it relates to the work.

And let's be clear: the actual "methods" -- the nuts and bolts -- are no different on this call than on any other call. In other words, most people would be amazed to find that the top earners aren't doing anything special. These guys don't have any magical "secrets" that they don't share with their organization. It's the same stuff we tell our new people to do.

What's the difference? You guessed it: mindset.

So, how do you know when you're in the right mindset? One of the guys who spoke on the call last week shared an interesting analogy that might be helpful.
He said, imagine that you've put in the latest DVD from the movie store. It's a brand new release that you haven't seen and it's supposed to have tons of suspense.

So, here's what you do: put the DVD in , go to the menu and select the last chapter. The LAST one...not the first one.

See how the movie ends. The guy gets the girl. The planet is saved from the meteor. The bad guys get sabotaged. Whatever. Watch that last chapter so you can vividly see how it ends.

Got it? Great. Now, go back to the menu and start at the beginning of the film.

How do you feel when you see the hero dangling from the edge of the cliff? You're not worried. You know he makes it ok in the end.

How do you feel when you see the famous painting is destoyed? No big deal -- when you watched the ending, you found out that it was a decoy....the real painting was safe all along.

Are you stressed out when the news is released that a meteor is heading toward the Earth? Nah. You know that the hero gets there in time to save the day.

The point is this: you're emotionally detached from the usual "drama" of the movie because you have a clear knowledge of how it ends.

And THAT is what the right goal-setting mindset feels like. It's when you adopt an attitude of CERTAINTY about your goal. In fact, it's more than that: you've already got possession of it. The only thing standing between you and your goal is the day-to-day process of enrolling and sponsoring. That's all.

We all hear the phrase "keep your eye on the goal" so much that it's become mundane and meaningless. But, really stop and look at that sentence and discover anew what it's saying. If your eye is on the GOAL, it cannot be on the obstacles in the way.

So, when I get phone calls from someone who's complaining about some prospect who didn't attend the presentation, it's easy to see where their focus is. They're not thinking about the $10K/month income they told me they wanted. They're focusing on the things they DON'T want! They're focusing on the obstacles.

Let me offer one more analogy that might make sense....The MGM Grand is the largest hotel in the country. It's got 5005 rooms.

Let's say I've hidden $100 million dollars in one of these rooms. It's in duffel bag hidden under the bed. I give you a master key to the hotel rooms and say, "No one else has this key. It's yours. There's no time limit. You can take as long as you want to get the money and it's not going anywhere. It's yours for the taking."

What would your attitude be like? Would you whine about how tedious it is to go into the rooms, bend over, look under the bed and find no money? Would you complain about how some of the doors are a little harder to open than others? Would you give up after 1,000 rooms because you're discouraged that you're going through the effort every day but you haven't made any money yet?

If that's you, then you need to quit MLM right now and go find a job you can be happy whining about. :)

But, if you've read this far, then I'm betting that would NOT be your attitude! I'll bet you'd run from room to room with that sense of CERTAINTY that we talked about earlier. You wouldn't be focused on the stairs, elevators or doors. You'd be focusing on YOUR money. Becuase that's what it is: YOURS.

That's what the right attitude feels like. It's when you're moving relative to your goal as though it's already in your possession and you're completely undistracted by the challenges that stand between you and it.

Now, here's the kicker: with this attitude, you will begin to ATTRACT more success in your life. In other words, it's almost as though the duffel bag will actually start moving CLOSER to you.....while you're moving closer to it!

This is the difference between broke networkers and rich networkers. They're in the same company, same pay plan, same support system and same methods....but one is failing miserably and the other is pulling down six-figures per month.

Perhaps Earl Nightingale said it best. He said the two words that described his mindset were "cheerful and expectant". He truly expected things to go his way. And he expected it in a calm, cheerful way.

Life wasn't meant to be a struggle. Sure, it requires effort but that's very different than "struggling" to make it happen. In fact, I've actually found that I tend to get MORE done when I'm not busting my butt to make it happen.

But, when I relax in my mindset, have a clear picture of what I'm accomplishing and use the right marketing methods.....success becomes inevitable. And it's truly a blast to watch the process happen.

Do you have a mindset that's attracting massive and unusual success? If you do, take a moment and see if you can describe it in a way that makes sense to you. I'd love to read it!
