I’m one of those people who likes to print off ebooks. Highlighter in hand, I can circle, annotate and simply list ideas on the pages as I read.
Unfortunately, in the zeal to increase the girth of their product, many marketers find it necessary to use 18 point fonts, huge headers and footers on each page, and margins that a family could live in!
Today, for example, I ... more »
Recently, I stumbled upon a press release written about MLMScamZone.com. This is apparently an unbiased site that basically put down all network marketing companies (MLM's) as scams. That is, until the owner joined an MLM. The release said, in part, "This single MLM opportunity was discovered to have the highest potential for earnings and successes, without any scams or hidden chances for failure that aren’t visible upon initial registration."
I wrote an article about bogus review sites back in February ... more »
There's an interesting discussion going on at MLM.com about people flashing checks around or making other incomes claims.
How should a company reign in a wayward rep? You know....those people who are so outrageous and sophmoric that you pray they quit mentioning they're one of your reps!
In most cases, the agenda of these people is to use public forums to prospect. That, in itself, is not a problem as long as you follow the forum rules. But, in the quest to posture themselves, so as to draw prospects to their business like moths to a flame, some are too immature to understand that their words and actions speak volumes about their character. Instead of attracting - they simply repel.
Such is the story today about a rep with a recently launched program called 1StepSystem. I've been contacted by no less than four people in just a few days about this business and I figured I'd better do some research so I could be knowledgeable should people seek my opinion.
During my search I came across a message board (which I won't publicize here) with an overzealous rep named David. A forum visitor asked about this program and David staked his claim like a wildcatter about to strike oil. Seems that ... more »
In yesterday's edition of The Framington TAB, there was an article about RealCashPrograms, based out of Swanton, Virginia. Seems that consumers told the Better Business Bureau that the company promised "lots" of money for doing things like shopping, taking surveys, and watching tv. Allegedly, they told people that they could earn up to $95 per hour for these activities. You, kind reader, just need to send in a fee and you'd get the inside scoop.
It's scams like this ... more »
A few weeks ago, I wrote a post about Customer Service with examples of both good and bad. The good example I used was Peter Montoya's office, which showed exemplary customer service when I notified them of an error in their email that may have cost them sales.
To "thank me for my time", one of their office staff (he may have been Mark...but I can't remember for sure) personally called me to thank me for calling the error to their ... more »
“You've achieved success in your field when you don't know whether what you're doing is work or play.”
So, you haven’t heard me rant for awhile (guess cause I was sick and needed to get my strength up!), but today I found a perfect subject.
Was reading an ezine today from one of the few people who actually delivers a real ezine (and not a "let me blast you with email pitches until you die" zine), and he was talking some conversations he had recently with a few seminar speakers who were speaking at an event put on by a well known Internet marketer.
Here is a quote from ... more »
I was on the phone this afternoon with a delightful gentleman (let's call him Bill) and we were discussing the amount of hype taking place in the network marketing industry.
He shared a story with me that truly turned my stomach. Seems many years ago he had attended a local business opportunity meeting and struck up a conversation with a guy. During the course of their conversation, this man showed him a photocopy of a check, indicating $7000 in earning from... more »

When you are searching for a home based business opportunity, do you believe everything you hear or read? What if it supposedly comes from a unbiased resource?
While reading some digests from the lists mentioned previously, an interesting email caught my eye. It read:
60 minutes did a big special on our home based company:
http://www.ameriplanusa.com/video/AMR300K.asx
Well, being of an inquisitive nature, I watched the video. Now, it did have Morley Safer at the beginning, but there was ... more »
Everyone knows the mantra “the money is in your list”.
There is much written about building your list and monetizing your list, but little is written on how to KEEP your list.
Case in point. Yesterday I got an ezine by email from a marketer whom I really enjoy reading. Of course, the first paragraph lead to a web site where I could read the rest of the article.
That where the trouble started! The article was pretty good and ... more »
One of the biggest frustrations I have is when people complain about the home based business opportunity market being a scam or not working.
Yes, there are scams out there. That’s one reason I’ve put together The Home Business Review Magazine – to give you the honest low-down on companies.
But, let’s be honest. There is good or bad in almost every type of business entity. Do we condemn all corporations because of the actions of Enron or Worldcom? No. ... more »
Think you’ll make the big bucks by hitching your wagon to a Internet or Network Marketing Star? A recent post on Anthony Blake’s Entrepreneurial Forum caught my eye this morning, because it is similar to comments I hear from clients every single week.
The gist of the writer’s comments was that he had joined several networking companies touted by “well known marketers”, only to find the success to which they alluded didn’t occur.
Now, I couldn’t tell from his post ... more »
