There's an interesting discussion going on at MLM.com about people flashing checks around or making other incomes claims.

Brought up something interesting that happened to me just a few days ago.  As most of you know, in addition to my Adsense Sites, coaching business, etc., I have been a consultant for Financial Freedom Society for over five years.

On Wednesday,  "Don" called me. "How long have you been with the company and how much are you making?"
When I told him that I don't ask others what they make nor do I reveal my earnings, he hung up on me!  (I'm blessed to generally talk to people with class....unfortunately Don's was low!!)

You see, what any individual earns doesn't make any difference to you. First of all, you don't know if the person is telling you the truth. The article "MLM Income Claims: Buyer Beware" talks about people who make untrue claims. Let's be honest. How can you substantiate if a claim is true.  In most cases, you don't know these people or even live near them. They can say anything!  Documentation? Nothing a little white out or PhotoShop can't fix.

Even if the income claim is true, most people don't admit what's behind that income. For instance, if you earned $40,000 your first month by bringing in thousands of people from another business, that's an unfair claim.  You'll see these on testimonials all over the place. Yet the people don't tell you WHY they were able to make so much so fast.   And newbies don't think to ask.

Finally, what that heck does their income have to do with your income? It has absolutely no bearing. A much smarter question would be, "How many people have you helped achieve XXX?" or "How many people have you mentored to achieve the XXX rank?"  This will tell you much more about that person as a sponsor than taking a chance on an income claim.
