I was on the phone this afternoon with a delightful gentleman (let's call him Bill) and we were discussing the amount of hype taking place in the network marketing industry.

He shared a story with me that truly turned my stomach. Seems many years ago he had attended a local business opportunity meeting and struck up a conversation with a guy. During the course of their conversation, this man showed him a photocopy of a check, indicating $7000 in earning from one month with this company.

Wow! Bill figured if this average guy could earn $7000 in one month, he should be able to earn at least $1000.So he joined....and had no success.

He happened to run into the same guy some time later. "I don't know what was wrong", Bill said. "I couldn't get anywhere near that $7000 check you earned. How did you do it?"

The guy told him - are you ready for this? - that the company wrote out that check to him so he could photocopy it and then destroyed the check. It wasn't a REAL check! "Why did you do that?", Bill asked. He replied, "I was so desperate to make some money that I was willing to do anything."

This is just one more reason NOT to be influenced by income claims ... whether by individuals or on web sites.

"I was only with XYZ Company two months and had 10,000 in my downline." (However, they'll leave out the fact that their previous company folded and s/he brought 9,999 from a previous company.)

To be honest, it doesn't matter if it's true or not because it really has nothing to do with what you'll accomplish.

Of course, everyone wants to make it appear that way, but in the "real world" it rarely happens. I know people who have $5000 a month advertising budgets? So, even though they might earn a lot or enroll a lot of people, is that something you're likely to achieve if your full time job is frying french fries at Mickey D's?

What you need are black and white facts as to what it takes. Then ask yourself, "Is this something I can do?"The scammers prey on people blinded by the money....cause they rarely take the time to ask the right questions.
