So, you haven’t heard me rant for awhile (guess cause I was sick and needed to get my strength up!), but today I found a perfect subject.

Was reading an ezine today from one of the few people who actually delivers a real ezine (and not a "let me blast you with email pitches until you die" zine), and he was talking some conversations he had recently with a few seminar speakers who were speaking at an event put on by a well known Internet marketer.

Here is a quote from his newsletter: "Actually what really swung me into writing about it was something a couple of the speakers said to me in the bar one right, when I said that it was obvious they'd been holding things back in their on-stage talks."

"Words along the lines of "Well, I can't talk in public about what I'm REALLY doing."

Did you get that?

Here are people who have paid THOUSANDS of dollars to learn tips and tricks from those who have already achieve a degree of success.

They have taken time away from their jobs or family and scrapped the money for seminar fees, hotel, air fair, meals, etc.

They eagerly kept their butts in chairs for up to eight hours, working their fingers to the bone to take down every word from these esteemed speakers.

They rush home and use more time and money to implement what they've learned. (Now, in actuality, most people never implement anything they learn because that takes work...but that's another story!)

And...they are crushed because they don't have 1/1000th the success of the guru who was speaking.

"Well, I can't talk in public about what I'm REALLY doing."

Now, I've known this for years. Because the conversations at speaker dinners are far different than those taking place in front of the lectern.

  • Like buying list building secrets (ranging from $47 to $1000+) from someone who primarily built their list buying co-reg names.

  • Or learning search engine tactics from someone who gets most of their traffic from pay per clicks.

  • Maybe selling CD's at the back of the seminar room with methods that are totally outdated because they still have stock to get rid of.

It sort of reminds me of an earlier post I made about someone who had joined a home based business opportunity because he thought he could match the $7000 check that was waved around by a new representative.  Later, he learned that check was just smoke and mirrors.

Does this mean that everyone is withholding the truth?  Of course not!  It just means that, unless Donald Trump is funding your business, you'd better do some research.  And it means that you shouldn't necessary beat yourself up because you aren't getting the same results as the speaker.
